Seear, the Chairperson for Rose Charities, went on to say, “I’m prepared to give the clothes off of my back for what is sure to be a very fun event…for a very serious and worthwhile purpose. These children have quite literally 'never been kissed,' or even loved, and they are shunned by society and grow up lonely and without hope.” Some of the Fashion Industry’s most revered designers will be donating wardrobes and accessories, and a Vera Wang gown is among those items to be auctioned off from the runway. Models will present items to winning bidders, stopping just short of full nudity.
DeGraw and Seear met during a photo shoot above Chelsea Market in Manhattan to discuss the late October 2006 event, and DeGraw said that all manner of help would be needed to make the Nashville event a truly great success, explaining that “Noot did a similar event in New York City last year, which raised over $50,000 so we’ve got a lot to live up to.”
The program will include cocktail hour, pre-show, runway show and auction, keynote speaker, after party and much more. Additionally, handicrafts and artwork created by Cambodian landmine victims will be sold and/or auctioned at the event. Cleft Lip and Palate is a common birth defect worldwide, occurring in approximately 1-in-700 births; however, in Cambodia that number rises to 1-in-400 births. Rose Charities medical teams have been working in Cambodia since 1998, curing those with CL&P, and helping to build the infrastructure and expertise required for Cambodian's to run their own clinics. NOOT SEEAR, VANCOUVER'S SUPERMODEL: Noot Seear grew up in Vancouver and was discovered at the age of 13. A year later she had sky rocketed to the top of the modeling industry in New York, opening the Calvin Klein Show that September and earning a record number of campaigns in her first year. Now 22, Noot is an established icon of the fashion world, having worked for almost every design house in New York, Paris and Milan. She keeps apartments in New York and Paris and moves between the two, with occasional quick trips back to Vancouver. Noot is the chairperson for Rose Charities New York and has been very involved in raising money and awareness for children in the developing world. In July of 2005 Noot hosted a high profile fundraiser in New York City at Milk Galleries raising over $50,000 for child survivors of the tsunami in Sri Lanka. Aside from her work as a fundraiser and model, she is designing a line of clothing with good friend and model Erin Wasson, and she has begun an acting career. Despite her glamorous lifestyle, Noot has always been known for being down-to-earth and ready for any kind of adventure, whether it’s sky-diving, surfing, scuba diving or show jumping. When in the city, she spends her spare time playing chess in parks and competing in speed chess tournaments. She has an extraordinary range of friends from young artists and musicians to the rich and famous.
In 2005, Rose Charities spokeswoman Noot Seear and supermodel and tsunami survivor Petra Nemcova co-hosted a fundraiser at Milk Studios in New York City, raising $50,000 for those affected by the disaster. Donations from top fashion photographers were auctioned off, as well as an exhibition of drawings by child victims of the tragedy. Seear and Wasson will be joined in Vancouver by Canada’s Next Top Model finalist Natalie Toulsen, Miss Reef’s Lindsey Bundschuh and her identical twin Rebecca, Chris Dufficy and Chris Brown of the Wildcats Snowboard team, and the beauties of W Model Management and Richard’s Models. Music will be provided by renowned DJs Circlesquare and Timeline. A host of Vancouver's hottest fashion labels, including Richard Kidd, A-Wear, Blushing Designs, Hylas & Nymph, Wrongwroks, Chulo Pony, Twigg & Hottie, Dust, Third Floor Designs and others will grace the runway for a fantastic night to benefit Rose Charities. |
